Configuring the Cross-Sell Add-Ons module for maximum revenue
Set up your Cross-Sell Add-Ons module in four steps after purchase.
Once you have purchased the Cross-Sell Add-Ons module and connected your Profitroom API credentials in the Profitroomshop Client Area, follow the steps below to finish configuration and start capturing incremental post-booking revenue.
Step 1: map Profitroom room types
Inside your Profitroomshop Client Area, open Cross-Sell → Room types. The module automatically imports the list of room types from your Profitroom account through the API. Review the imported types and confirm every one is correctly labelled for guest-facing display. If Profitroom returns room types with internal codes rather than readable names, you can apply display labels from this section without touching your Profitroom setup.
Step 2: build your add-on catalogue
Open Cross-Sell → Add-ons → New add-on. For each offer — room upgrade, early check-in, late check-out, airport transfer, breakfast package, spa credit, F&B voucher — set the name, description, image, base price and applicable room types. Upgrade offers are priced dynamically against live inventory pulled from Profitroom, so the guest only sees the categories that are actually available on their dates. Static add-ons (breakfast, transfers) use the base price directly.
Step 3: set pricing and display rules
In Cross-Sell → Settings, configure: Offer window (how long after booking confirmation the upsell page remains active — default 72 hours); Maximum offers per page (how many add-ons to show at once — default 5, ordered by conversion history); Room-upgrade markup (the margin applied on top of the live inventory rate for upgrades — default 8%); and Payment collection (charge on acceptance versus charge at check-in, mirroring your Profitroom payment policy).
Step 4: activate the upsell flow and choose the delivery mode
Choose between two delivery modes: Email — a branded upsell email fires 30 minutes after Profitroom confirms a reservation. Confirmation page — the upsell offers are presented immediately after the guest completes the booking in the Profitroom widget. Most properties enable both. Every accepted add-on is written back to the reservation in Profitroom as either an extra or an upgraded room type with the price delta invoiced correctly.
Tracking performance
The Cross-Sell dashboard shows: total offers presented, acceptance rate, incremental revenue per booking and top-performing add-ons. Review the dashboard every week for the first month. If a specific add-on is consistently ignored, adjust the copy, imagery or price in Step 2 rather than removing it — a small pricing tweak often lifts acceptance without dropping the offer.
